Enki Bilal (born Enes Bilalović;[1]French: [bilal], Serbo-Croatian: [bilalovitɕ]; born 7 October 1951) is a French comedian e book author, comics artist and film director.

Biography

Early existence

Bilal used to be born in Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia,[2] to a Czech mom, Ana, who came to Belgrade as child from Karlovy Vary, and a Bosniak[1] father, Muhamed Hamo Bilalović, from Ljubuški, who were Josip Broz Tito's tailor. When he used to be five years old, his father managed to take a trip and keep in Paris as a political émigré. Enki and the rest of the family, his mother Ana and sister Enisa, stayed in Yugoslavia, and 4 years later they adopted.[3][4]

Education and profession

At age 14, he met René Goscinny and together with his encouragement carried out his ability to comics. He produced paintings for Goscinny's Franco-Belgian comics magazine Pilote in the Seventies, publishing his first story, Le Bol Maudit, in 1972.

In 1975, Bilal began operating with script writer Pierre Christin on a chain of dark and surreal tales, ensuing within the frame of work titled Légendes d'Aujourd'hui.
